I&#8217;ve touched on it some in my blog, but not what led up to it.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p data-key=\"158\"><span data-key=\"159\"><span spellcheck=\"true\" data-slate-content=\"true\">I wish I had a rosy story to tell, how the heavens parted and I was given sunshine and rainbows and inspiration galore. But it didn&#8217;t quite happen that way.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p data-key=\"158\"><span data-key=\"159\"><span spellcheck=\"true\" data-slate-content=\"true\">Back around 2016 I was depressed. I was lost, and knew that something had to change.<\/p><p>During that three years I tried so many things to try to break the cycle. I tried different kinds of glass work. I tried writing a novel, twice. I tried digital art. I created coloring books for adults. That all kept me afloat, but my creative joy did not return.\u00a0<\/p><p>Out of boredom I signed up for a three-day out-of-state workshop, totally unrelated to glass and jewelry, just to get away. It was paper arts, collage, painting, and all the things that could be used in art journals. All things I&#8217;d always been afraid of because I believed I wasn&#8217;t any good.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-93ab9f5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"93ab9f5\" data-element_type=\"section\" filled a different two-page spread with each workshop&#8217;s project and techniques.<\/span><\/div><div data-slate-spacer=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div><div style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\" data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-size: 1rem;\">I didn&#8217;t realize it at the time, but that weekend my funk started to lift, and my creativity started to return.<\/span><\/div><div data-slate-spacer=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div><div style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\" data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\" spellcheck=\"true\" data-slate-content=\"true\">Lately I\u2019ve been getting messages from people asking how they\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-style: normal;\" spellcheck=\"true\" data-slate-content=\"true\">can get started art journaling, too.\u00a0<\/span>I get it.<\/div><div data-slate-spacer=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div><h3 style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\" data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #ba3c4a;\">Creating is such a life-changing activity with so many benefits:<\/span><\/h3><ul><li data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">It boosts your mood.<\/span><\/li><li data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">It makes you forget about things for a while.<\/span><\/li><li data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">You can express yourself in a safe place and way.<\/span><\/li><li data-slate-spacer=\"true\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; caret-color: #000000; color: #000000;\">And you get pretty stuff at the end, just to name a few.\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div><p style=\"caret-color: #000000; color: #000000; font-style: normal;\" data-key=\"177\"><span data-key=\"178\"><span spellcheck=\"true\" data-slate-content=\"true\">I created a\u00a0<\/span><em
