If you are an artist, or someone that does art shows you know that kids aren’t the only ones that say the darndest things. You know that customers and their friends can come up with some doozies. Fellow craftspeople can throw in some zingers too. Of course, my friends and customers would never do that.
On the other hand, they can also come up with some really encouraging and supportive words too.
I have to let you in on the coolest comment I’ve gotten to date. It wasn’t about my work and it wasn’t a compliment. It was more of an observation, I think, during my open studio show last month.
First, let me show you a part of my studio where I do my torch work. You’ve probably seen it multiple times in my posts about what goes on in my studio and how I have it set up:

Notice my glass storage wrapped around my working area. I was sitting at my torch giving a demo when a woman commented from behind me:
Not everyone gets to work inside a rainbow every day.
Just a nice, short and sweet little comment but it really made me think. I know how fortunate I am to be able to do what I do in the way that I do it. But that really drove it home. I am truly blessed.

I hadn’t thought of it that way, Lori, but your customer is right! Even better, we lampworkers get to customize our rainbows, and even change them from day to day if we work with more than one type of glass.
