How to become a karate mom…

mocha chocolate elusive glass lampwork beadsHere is another in the line of beads whose names elude me.  They’re up as part of this weeks specials.  More to come!

As you are reading this I am at my first kids karate tournament.

In California.  I live in Arizona.  That’s a drive.

The kid is only five years old.  In the back of my mind I dread the soccer mom days that are inevitably coming my way.  I thought we’d be safe with karate.  Silly mommy.

All kidding aside, I’m looking forward to it.  I love road trips and it’s always a good opportunity to find new funny signs to bring to you.  While it sounds pretty barbaric to me, the kids even competitively spar.  In Grover’s case you can really see him seeing it as a sport…looking for openings and blocking what is coming his way.  As any concerned mother can relate to, I’m hoping the other kids aren’t maniacs.  Grover should do well since he’s been sparring against 9-11 year olds.  I’m told it will be ‘cute’.

We will be videoing of course and if I can figure it out, I’ll bring you a clip.  I know you just can’t wait.
