Back from Tucson…

Hi everyone.  I’m back from Tucson…not that it was that far away…it’s only a 2.5 hour drive for me.  Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on being in a great glass center like Portland but when the Tucson shows are going on I’m so grateful for where I live.

Anyway, the show was great, especially since it was my first all bead show and I had my own booth.  I aimed high for sales and would have been happy to make half of my goal (that’s how I always see it…aim higher than you really want to be) and I exceeded that expectation.

It was great to meet so many people and surprising to me because you know, I’m not that social.  I was next to KBGlassworks which translates into:  lots of cute young boys that do cool boro.  On the other side, Wild Things, who has the nicest Czech glass beads I’ve ever seen.

Across the aisle I got to look at Lucio Bubacco’s gorgeous glass work all weekend as well as his assistant Diego and Esperienze glass.  My mom and I couldn’t get the line from the movie Breaking Away out of our heads, “the Italians are coming! the Italians are coming!”

I also met Jamie from the Bead Gallery of Hawaii.  She and her family/friends were just plain fun.  They have the most gorgeous crystal flower necklace kits.

The show was just busy enough that I did get some time to chat with JC (JCHerrell) and Cindy (Full Circle Galleria) on breaks and also a little bit with Ellen Black.

More will come to mind, I’m sure, as time goes on.  I’m just trying to decompress today.
