I Need Bead Images for Beads of Courage

by lorigreenberg on February 28, 2009

Hi beadmakers!  As you may or may not know, I’m taking on an ‘official’ role with Beads of Courage and I’m really excited.  I’ll let you know just what that role is when we get it ironed out…there’s so much to do it’s hard to narrow it down.  It’s all volunteer, as is the whole organization, and I need your help today.

lori greenberg stitched beadI need your bead images.  They need to be good clear images, and the image needs to be one bead filling the whole frame.  One image per beadmaker, please.  All will be accepted (as long as they’re clear images).

Why?

I’m starting a special facebook application in the spirit of Beads of Courage, for the Beads of Courage cause page.  Each bead image in the application will be paired with a word or phrase.  Healing, strength, hope, giggles, thinking of you, etc.  In this application, virtual beads will be passed around to everyone, not just beadmakers or the kids and their families so the words will vary.

If you are interested, email me your images and put “BOC Facebook App” in the subject line.

And if you’re not on facebook yet, you should be!  I’ll be your friend!  And so will lots of other people!

That’s what the program uses. Maybe I should open it up?

What size do you want the pictures? pixels and or kb?

Any size is fine…I’ll do the editing down, but no smaller than say, 200 x 200 px? Computer resolution (72 d.p.i) is sufficient. Thanks!

Thanks! I will dig up a couple and you can pick the one you want.

If you decide to include clay/porcelain beads, I’d be more than happy to jump in! As I get a bit more time, I’ll check out more of the Beads of Courage on Facebook to see if I can help out in other ways too…

You know what, Marsha? Send ‘em on in! Right now the actual program focuses on glass beads, as that was how it was started but for this, why not involve more artists and media? The more I get going with this, the more I’m thinking it doesn’t have to be just beads either! I’m always open to suggestions!
